Are you ready for fall fun?

Line dancing classes are all but set for the fall season beginning on Oct. 2. So, what’s up? It’s the last days to get signed up for the series. Line dancing is about fun and exercise. It has long been the third most participated in senior exercise worldwide. Why? Because it’s fun and doesn’t hurt! You will learn how many movements of dance are already in daily life—just add music and a new step or two. Rebecca teaches two different levels of her classes with an emphasis on humor and self-improvement. Progress to the second level at your own pace or stay where you are.

As a warning, the health news continues to report on the lack of adult sense of humor. Research indicates that we don’t laugh enough. In middle age, both men and women begin to suffer a sharp decline in their sense of humor, getting increasingly grumpy, say British scientists. Researcher Dr. L. Harbidge says, “The Lifetime of Laughter Scale shows diminishing returns when it comes to laughter. We laugh twice as much in our teens as in our fifties. And findings suggest that it’s all downhill from 52.” The study found that an infant can laugh aloud 300 times every day, but life rapidly becomes far less amusing. Teenagers laugh just an average of six times a day. Sadly, the average 60-year-old manages a hearty guffaw just 2.5 times a day. Dr. Harbidge said, “It’s important to remember how good laughter is for you. It releases endorphins, and a little laughter every day goes a long way toward reducing stress. To combat stress, we ought to be seeking out more comedy.”

Classes are for students new to or recently returning to line dance and gradually increase workout intensity. Two skill levels are offered back to back on Wednesday and Saturday. Rebecca has taught more than 500 students through the years. Currently, many of the top dances in popularity around the world are in her curriculum, but we also like to search for songs and subjects with fun dances and even funnier lyrics associated. Line dancing is a stress relieving activity, and we laugh out loud many times in every class. The focus of the classes are to have great fun, exercise, learn, and expand the ability to laugh at ourselves and with others. We improve the quality of life with hearty laughter and success on the dance floor. Giggle and laugh out loud when we get the dance right or not so much. Join in for good times, laughs, and some much-needed exercise. Rebecca restricts the class size so students have the best experience of fun and learning.

“Dance with your heart and your feet will follow!”
