The Friends of SaddleBrooke Libraries (FSL) annual membership kick-off event will showcase two of the Arizona State Museum’s (ASM) renown collections, the world’s largest and most comprehensive collections of Southwest Indian pottery and American Indian basketry. Two ASM curators of ethnological collections, Andrew Higgins and Diane Dittemore, will share highlights from the museum’s pottery and basketry collections using slides and actual items from the museum. Annual membership dues for FSL start at $20 per household with additional benefits given to those who become members at a higher level. Renewals and new memberships now can be paid online at SBFSL.org. This is a free lecture.

February 18, 2016 at 4:00 p.m. The Untold Story of the Gunfight at the OK Corral

Gerry Miller will share his extensive knowledge of Arizona history in a fascinating presentation about the famous 30-second long gunfight in downtown Tombstone that occurred on October 26, 1881. Books and movies have portrayed this brief gun battle as typical of life in the American “Wild West.” However, almost no one knows what the late Paul Harvey would call “the rest of the story” related to that gunfight. Who were the players in the aftermath of the great gunfight? Gerry’s presentation tells the story of the pursuers and pursued as well as the fates of all those involved.

Non-FSL members will be charged a $5 fee to attend this lecture.
