Dr. Joseph Vaglio is a cardiologist who specializes in heart rhythm disorders. The heart is a remarkable organ that can generate its own electrical impulses and allows the heart to beat uninterrupted over the course of a lifetime. Cardiac rhythms are an elegant ballet of intracellular ion movement, coordinated electrical conduction and cardiac muscle contraction. This system oxygenates the blood and pumps it throughout the body to support all aspects of life. A truly amazing system!

With such a finely tuned system there is a significant chance of malfunction that can cause cardiac arrhythmias, particularly as we age. This is the area of specialization of a cardiac electrophysiologist.

On Monday, January 25, at 7:00 p.m. Dr. Joseph Vaglio, a cardiac electrophysiologist, will address SaddleBrooke residents at Health Night Out in the MountainView Ballroom.

Dr. Vaglio, who completed his training at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN and Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, TN, practices with Desert Cardiology at Northwest and Oro Valley Medical Centers. He will discuss the categories of arrhythmias and common treatments. He will also talk about therapies that alleviate symptoms, help prevent stroke, improve quality of life and even extend life. His research interest has focused on how atrial fibrillation patients’ genetic makeup affects their response to drugs.

Dr. Vaglio excels at taking complicated medical concepts and breaking them down in a way that allows patients to grasp the essence of their condition.

As always, The MountainView Bistro will offer a special healthy menu selection for Health Night Out, so enjoy dinner at The Bistro before attending the presentation. Watch your email for menu details.

The Health and Wellness Committee is pleased to host this highly credentialed physician on Monday, January 25, 7:00 p.m. at the MountainView Ballroom.
