Health Night Out will present “A Pain in the Neck or Back!” on Monday, November 24, at 7:00 p.m. SaddleBrooke Health and Wellness will host Dr. Ryan Kretzer, a Neurosurgeon from Carondelet Neurological Institute.

Carondelet Neurological Institute offers highly specialized, compassionate care in modern facilities. Located on the campus of Carondelet St. Joseph’s Hospital, the Carondelet Neurological Institute is the largest and most comprehensive program in southern Arizona dedicated to the treatment of neurological disorders and injuries. The Institute is designed for the delivery of complete, personalized care in a comfortable environment. On one hospital campus individuals can receive a full range of diagnostic and treatment services for most neurological conditions. Within CNI, a specialized Spine Center is a dedicated center focused on a team approach to diagnosing, treating and correcting spine injuries and disorders, using advanced neurosurgical techniques and supportive therapies.

If you are behind the desk, on the golf course, in a car or airplane, or in a situation where your back and neck take a bit of wear and tear, you’ll probably be interested in this talk by Dr. Ryan Kretzer. Dr. Kretzer will focus on spine health and will discuss basic cervical and lumbar disorders and how they are treated and summarize why it’s so important for folks to consider how the health of their backs and necks can directly impact their life and its quality.

Dr. Kretzer attended Johns Hopkins University for his undergraduate work in chemistry and then stayed for medical school through residency. He completed his spine neurosurgery fellowship at Johns Hopkins and served as a clinical instructor in neurosurgery. He is the recipient of numerous awards, scholarships and grants for his clinical and research work related to spinal conditions and medical devices. He serves as a peer reviewer for Spine and has been the co-author of more than 30 published journal articles and eight chapters in medical textbooks. Dr. Kretzer, who is board certified in neurosurgery, is a member of the Congress of Neurological Surgeons and a fellow member of the American Association of Neurological Surgeons.
