Who still wants to dance this spring? Classes began April 12 for the spring series. With the heat on the way it’s time to figure if any more Ranchers want an indoor activity. Ranch dancers will have a nine-week spring series. Then without a break a summer series will follow. Rebecca accepts reservations for students for her class series far into the future, so with a session starting in April then another in late June, you can reserve space now no matter your current resident status. Fall and winter 2018 series are registering in advance. Keep in mind that classes are taught on a reservation basis; drop-ins are not encouraged as class size is limited.

For those who don’t know, line dance is the third most popular form of senior exercise worldwide and that’s for some great reasons but mostly because it’s good fun and exercise. Spring/summer can be a very fun time of year with the air conditioning and the smaller class sizes. All you need to succeed is a desire to get on the dance floor. Remembering a sequence dance is exercise for the brain. Dancing improves memory, concentration, cardio, muscle tone, balance, posture, coordination, aerobic fitness, bone strength, agility, musical appreciation and social interaction. “Dance with your heart and your feet will follow.”

Even though classes have begun the pace is gradual, and most first timers do not have much difficulty catching on and up to the class. Can’t join yet? You may consider reserving your summer or fall space now as Rebecca’s classes book far in advance. Rebecca’s classes have included almost 300 different dances since she began teaching in SaddleBrooke 10 years ago, so there is a lot of material to choose from well into the future.

The Level 1 Beginner series will run nine classes this spring. Sessions are on Wednesday at the SB Ranch Hacienda Club. You may alternately choose to take the same class in SaddleBrooke on Monday or Tuesday. Series packages are prepaid prior to beginning the series. Level 1 Beginner dancers get basic steps and dances. You have time to become accustomed to the pace of exercise and learn several dances and many dance step skills. Starting late? You can do a couple weeks of both communities until you become comfortable and caught up to your classmates.

Level 2, Advanced Beginner/Easy Intermediate classes, are also based in all three HOA facilities. The coming Level 2 series will span the same weeks as Level 1. These classes will occur on Monday PM, Tuesday AM, and Wednesday at SB Ranch. It is more challenging to start late in this level; experience and fitness will be accessed so you could have fun.
