A wreath laid on a veteran’s grave at Evergreen Cemetery in Tucson

Does this slogan sound familiar to you? We hope so! It has only been five months since 40 Ranch residents volunteered at the annual Wreaths Across America event at Evergreen Cemetery in Tucson.

In 2014 Kay Lantow and Linda Nicholson introduced this event to their friends and neighbors at SaddleBrooke Ranch. That year we had only 10 volunteers for the event and about 600 wreaths. The wreath donations come from many sources. In 2015 Kay and Linda kicked off the event in October, hoping to double the number of volunteers. The Ranch did not disappoint! The day of the event, December 12, 40 Ranch volunteers were present to honor those who served our great country by laying over 900 wreaths on the veterans’ graves.

Even with the increase of 300 wreaths donated from 2014 to 2015 there were still not enough to honor all of the veterans’ graves. There is a great need to increase the number of wreath donations. Not one veteran’s grave should be forgotten at Christmas!

Kay and Linda have already received brochures for the 2016 event to be held on December 17 at the Evergreen Cemetery in Tucson. Wreath donations are now being accepted via the website: www.wreathsacrossamerica.org. You may also donate by completing the paper order form. Just contact Kay Lantow at [email protected] or Linda Nicholson at [email protected].

With the approach of Memorial Day, what a more fitting time to remember and honor a veteran! Please consider making your wreath donations early this year.
