The SaddleBrooke Ranch Riding Group had some new riders on the trail to enjoy a fine October day at Pusch Ridge Stables. Joining the group for the first time were John and Jamie Calhoun, Ken Drummy and Merrie Day, Bob Drury, Sylvia and Dave Harmon, Anita Johnson, Gail Latimer, Beth Lee, Bob and Sue Lamar, Toni McDole, Rob and Mary Nemecek, Tim and Brenda Pooler, Tom Ridolfo and Ernie Wolf. It was great to have so many first time or “first time in a long time” riders out.

The group had a total of 25 riders out to enjoy the trails, broken into sets of five with some riding on Saturday and some on Sunday. Both days the weather was really nice, and the mountain views were wonderful as always. Rides are conducted at a walk just to enjoy the scenery, and everyone agreed that mission was definitely accomplished.

The group’s next event will be the Chuck Wagon ride and dinner at Old Tucson Studios on Saturday, November 5. The final ride of the fall season will be on Saturday, December 3, at Hacienda del Sol. This ride is actually in what might appear to be a more urban setting as the stable is located just south of East Sunrise Drive in the Catalina Foothills. This trail drops down into a large arroyo filled with trees and quiet solitude away from the rush of urban life just outside. There are also many convenient places for lunch after the ride.

The group’s spring season starts in February at Donnelly’s D Spur Ranch in Gold Canyon. This is on the eastern edge of Apache Junction near Phoenix and is generally a bit warmer and farther into spring in February than we are here. Other rides include the popular Colossal Cave in Vail and later in the spring Triangle T in Dragoon.

The group’s rides are open to any SaddleBrooke resident. You can ask to be added to their email list so that you get all the information on upcoming rides and can let the secretary know if you would like to make a reservation. Join as many or as few rides as you like. For more information see the SBR Club website or send an email to the secretary, Don and Rebecca Williams, at [email protected].
