“Pet” Projects support Pet Rescue

Rita Fletcher

Did you know? Supporting Pet Rescue does not mean walking dogs, fostering or adopting exclusively!

You can help homeless ‘fur babies’ by making your ‘pet’ projects! Are you a sewer, quilter, knitter? Please consider a gift of handmade blankets, bedding, cat toys, dog kerchiefs, adopt me scarves and vests. Are you an amazing artisan creating jewelry, wood craft, paintings, stained glass? Consider donating to the Network’s June fashion show and silent auction. Are you a baker? Recipes abound for dog and cat treats! What a treat for sheltered animals to enjoy; a savory bite lifts their spirits while waiting for their forever home.

Thank you! to Monday’s sewing group meeting an urgent need for cat trap covers for PAAC’s Trap, Neuter, Release program. And thank you to Cathy Shaber and Tina Willis of Friday’s sewing group for donating pet beds to Hope Animal Shelter.

When your unit, club or group has an event, please consider donating part of the proceeds for pet rescue. Or gather donations for animals like food, carriers/crates, cat condos and litter, litter pans/scoops, towels, any type of cleaning supply and paper product, exam gloves, brushes, sponges, 13 and 33 gallon size trash bags and office supplies. Every dollar spent on supplies is one less dollar that could have been spent on animals.

Another way to help is giving gently used items as donations; tax deductible receipts are available for larger donations. Donations are now being accepted for the “I Don’t Want It Sale” Saturday, October 10. Jewelry and household items are wanted. Right now Pima Animal Care Center (PACC) is in desperate need of a $2,650 Patient Warming System to maintain body temperature during surgery and stabilize animals in crisis. SB Pet Rescue Network’s sale proceeds will go to make this purchase. The network helps support 13 rescue groups, seven pet shelters and several educational pet safety groups. One hundred percent of donations benefit rescue animals. Upon request, donations of cash and goods valued at over $100 may receive a tax deductible receipt from our primary rescuer, RUFF Rescue.

Please join the effort! Dues are $10 annually. SBPetRescue.com has a form to mail a check to the address listed, or an online membership form using PayPal. If you have questions, contact Leslie at [email protected] or call 724-689-9843.
