Ranch Roots plans research field trip to Family History Center

In our July meeting of the Ranch Roots Genealogy Club we will discuss and prepare for a trip to the Family History Center on Magee here in Tucson. Learning what to know in advance of a visit to a genealogy library is important to make the most of your time on site. So at our regular 1:00 p.m. meeting on Monday, July 24, 2017 we’ll talk about what resources are available and what you need to know in advance. We’ll tell you what you should bring with you and how to prepare your information to make the most of your time there. We’ll also show you how to order specific microfiche that you may want so they’ll have it on-site when you arrive. If you think you’ll want to order microfiche you may want to bring your laptop so you can order the microfiche during the meeting. If it’s not convenient to bring a laptop, someone will share with you.

You can also “search” Tucson Family History Center West or go to https://familysearch.org/wiki/en/Tucson_Arizona_West_Family_History_Center and be able to find out more about the Center and what is available. The Family History Center is closed on Mondays, and space is limited.

We will decide at the meeting which day works best for those planning the trip. We’re tentatively planning Tuesday, August 15, and/or Wednesday, August 16. We’ll meet at 9:00 a.m. to carpool and return by 3:00 p.m. There are a few restaurants within a mile but none are close, so if you want to make the most of your time pack a lunch. Please let Pegg Ridolfo know which trip you plan to attend by Wednesday, August 9, as we need to let the staff at the Family History Center know how many to plan for.
