General meeting and School Volunteer Fair – November 16

SaddleBrooke Community Outreach, in proud partnership with three local area schools, presents our first School Volunteer Fair. Our mission is to introduce the volunteer opportunities for residents to learn about the need for volunteers at nearby schools and how you can make a difference. This is your chance to hear straight from the educators about their individual needs.

The School Volunteer Fair is Monday, November 16, at 3:30 to 5:00 p.m., in SaddleBrooke 2 MountainView Clubhouse in the West Ballroom. The scheduled speakers are Mr. Dennis Blauser, Superintendent, Oracle School District No. 2; Mr. John Ryan, Superintendent Mammoth-San Manuel; Mr. Gerard Ball, Principal, Coronado K-8 School, Catalina; Ms. Nanette Soule, Principal, Mountain Vista Elementary School, Oracle; and Ms. Julie Dale-Scott, Principal, San Manuel High School.

Our speakers will describe the need for and the help that volunteers provide to the students and teachers. There are multiple opportunities to help including, but not limited to: classroom assistants, reading and math tutors, library aides, playground monitors, sports programs, clerical assistants, office administrative duties, school bus greeters and monitors.

Light refreshments will be served. Please come out and help to make a difference in a child’s life!

Shredding and Electronics Recycling Event November 7

SaddleBrooke Community Outreach (SBCO) and Long Realty are partnering to offer a “Shredding and Electronics Recycling Event” on Saturday, November 7, from 8:00 a.m. to noon. It will be in the SaddleBrooke HOA One parking area in front of the Bocce Ball Court.

The shredding and recycling will be done by the Beacon Secure Document Destruction Services. They offer secure document destruction; no need to worry about paper clips, staples or file folders. The media destruction includes compact disks (CD), video tapes, film, photos, etc. They will also be recycling computers, printers, phones, monitors and flat screen televisions; unfortunately, older televisions are no longer accepted. You may also dispose of your old microwave ovens and toasters. Other office equipment they accept is adding machines, calculators, rechargeable and alkaline batteries.

Beacon Secure Document Destruction Services is a division of the Beacon Foundation, the largest employer of disabled Americans. The employees are uniformed professionals who have met background and drug testing requirements and are AAA NAID certified, standards-setting body for the document destruction industry.

Bring your documents, old computers, printers, etc. and destroy them safely without being concerned that your data will be compromised. To support this effort, we ask that you donate five cans of food or $5 per box to be destroyed. Donations will benefit the Tri-Community Food Bank.
