Class is two sessions – 9 a.m. to noon and 1 to 3 p.m. with a one-hour lunch break. Instructor: Gail Kolenda; Cost: $35 plus $5 for supplies; Open to all levels; Place: Fine Arts & Craft Room in SBR Arts & Technology Building.

This will be an introduction to watercolor pouring. Introduction to composition and color theory will kick off the day. We will create a simple composition and move through the day, creating depth and shadowing through pouring.

Need watercolor paints, paper, and one old small brush.

Paper Quilling April 2, 9 a.m. to noon.

Instructor: Erin Newman; Cost: $42 includes supplies (provided); Open to all levels; Place: Fine Arts & Craft Room in SBR Arts & Technology Building.

Curious about paper quilling and how to roll paper? Join SBR resident Erin Newman in learning the art of curling, coiling, and rolling! Paper quilling/filigree is an ancient art form that involves using strips of paper which are rolled, shaped, and adhered together to create detailed, decorative designs. Class will teach the basics of quilling using strips of paper and quilling tools. You will create your own paper quilled art piece to take home.

Acrylic Pouring April 9, 16, and 23, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Instructor: Francheskka (Frances Clark); Cost: $150 for all three sessions; Open to all levels.

The pouring of paint frees the artist in a spontaneous direct process of mixing, and pouring paint directly onto the canvas creating lines, shapes, values of color and texture (the four design elements). Pour using your intuition instead of thinking about plans and ideas coming from your heart and soul. The artist tips and turns the canvas and can paint into the pour creating unusual and exciting compositions.
