SBRWGA honors 2019 Club Champions

Trish Kelly

On April 1 and 2, the SBR Women’s Golf Association held its eighth annual Club Championship tournament. Any SBRWGA member who had posted a minimum of five league play-days in the prior twelve months was eligible to compete in the Club Championship flight. Qualifying members aged 70+ years could choose to compete in the Senior Club Championship flight.  The full field also competed for “closest to the pin” awards on both days.

Jean Cheszek won the Club Championship for the third consecutive year, posting a combined two-day low gross score of 150. Mary Snowden won the Senior Club Championship with a combined two-day low gross score of 172. Congratulations to both Jean and Mary for their outstanding play!

In addition to the overall winners, first, second, third, fourth and fifth place winners were recognized in each of four handicap flights. The first to third place winners are as follows.

A huge round of applause is owed organizers, Mindy Hawkins, Lorraine Smith, Melanie Timberlake, Alex Anna and committee members CJ Kerley, Bonnie Stark and Charlotte Graham. We also wish to recognize and extend a big thank you to our tournament sponsor, Life is Good Chiropractic, for their generous donation in support of this event. We also want to acknowledge our SBR Golf Pros, Mike Jahaske and Ken Steinke, for creating and maintaining the Leader Board and announcing the winners.

Following the final day of golf, the players and Golf Pros convened in the Ranch House Grill to partake in a delicious luncheon provided and served by the Ranch House Grill staff.

Congratulations to our winners and to everyone who supported our SBRWGA Club Championship by participating. You helped to make this, our eighth Club Championship tournament, a lot of fun and a great success!
