SBRWGA Lady Golf Team Takes Second Place Gross in Tucson’s CWGA Competition

Carol Mihal

Twenty-eight ladies from the SaddleBrooke Ranch Women’s Golf Association (SBRWGA) participated in this year’s City Women’s Golf Association (CWGA) Golf Tracks season competition.

The CWGA group, originally formed in 1951, organizes six tournaments at various golf courses in and around Tucson to provide cross-city golf competition with individual stroke play, using the Stableford scoring system. Individual golfers, as well as golf course teams, are recognized at the end of the season with winnings.

There were 188 women (comprising 12 separate teams) participating in this year’s CWGA Golf Tracks competition. It was a very unusual golf season with two events being cancelled due to weather, and the season ending “Fun Day” being cancelled due to coronavirus and the need for social distancing.

After all the scoring was tallied, the SBR Team earned second place gross. Congratulations to the SBR team!

Additionally, our own Jean Cheszek won the Overall Gross Champion award. We’re so proud of Jean. Congratulations!
