Southern Arizona Guide

Linda Shannon-Hills

“Southern Arizona’s Best Hidden Treasures” presented by Jim Gressinger from Southern Arizona Guide kicked off our July Thursday Talks at SaddleBrooke Ranch. As the Ranch grows the new residents come with a thirst for knowledge about their new home in the Sonoran Desert. Jim presented the new and seasoned residents some wonderful ideas of places to visit outside the regular better-known local attractions. Very few locals know about or have been to the hundreds of hidden treasurers that Jim and his group have uncovered over the past couple of years. Jim’s slides gave us a great visual of what we can experience. All the attractions and events presented are within a three-hour drive from downtown Tucson, making day trips easy.

The gem of Jim’s visit is the link to his wonderful online guide. This is not your ordinary guide but rather their personal recommendations for the dining, lodging, and things to see and do in Tucson and all of Southern Arizona, including: Arivaca, Bisbee, Duncan, Elgin, Florence, Patagonia, Sonoita, Tombstone, Tubac and Willcox. They have maps, videos and slideshows of the areas they recommend: local history, ghost towns, interviews, calendar of events and activities for children. They offer guided tours of Tucson and southern Arizona. Some are day trips, half day trips and two to three day road trips.

You can subscribe for free to their weekly newsletter with events happening as well as history of the area: www.southernarizonaguide.com.

Mark your calendar—The SBR Thursday Talks will host Bob Elder from the Arizona Sonoran Desert Museum on Thursday, September 24, at 4:00 p.m. “The Five Seasons of the Sonoran Desert.”
