Students do their part to remember our armed forces

The Teen Sew Cool Spring program in San Manuel ended last week with refreshments and a community project. The program was nine weeks long and all but one of the projects the students sew are theirs to take home. The community project, ten inch zippered bags, will be sent to Operation Care Package (OPC) in Joliet, Illinois.

Ten students, age eight to twelve, happily completed 19 bags. One student suggested her bag be given to a lady soldier with brown hair. The bags will be filled by OPC before being forwarded to our troops.

Teens Sew Cool will be offering a summer program Wednesday mornings in June in San Manuel and in July in Catalina. The fall session will begin in October on Wednesday afternoons. Why not join us? Teaching our youth to sew is rewarding and lots of fun. For more information regarding our program visit www.Teenssewcool.org or email me at [email protected].
