On Saturday, August 19, the Oracle District visited the communities of SaddleBrooke and SaddleBrooke Ranch for its annual “Stuff the Bus” copy paper and school supply drive. As usual the awesome residents of the two communities came out in force to show their support. The drive was coordinated and run by the Oracle School District National Junior Society members and their sponsor, Shannon Soule. Not only was there plenty of help from these remarkable students, the Sunshine Rotary Club and Oracle School District Governing Board members Jeri Taylor and Gary Terrell were on hand to support our efforts. State Representative and SaddleBrooke resident Vince Leech also stopped by to encourage the kids and promote the drive. This year’s drive netted 160 reams of copy paper, several bags of school supplies and $1,000 in cash donations, which will be used to purchase additional supplies and paper.

This “Stuff the Bus” paper drive is only one of the efforts that enable the District to provide a quality education to its students. The District also counts on tax credit donations, which taxpayers give each year. These tax credits can be for $200 per person, reduce your state tax liability dollar-for-dollar, and now can be made until April 15 of the next year.

The Oracle Schools Foundation established in 2015 is another vehicle for providing the District the resources it needs. As the Foundation is a 501(c)(3) organization, donations to it are tax deductible on your federal taxes. The Foundation’s third annual Gala is scheduled for Saturday, November 5, at 5:30 p.m. at The Vistas at SaddleBrooke One. This year’s theme is “Read to Succeed,” and funds raised at the event will continue to be used to help fund needs-based preschool scholarships and also early childhood literacy. Details about the event and how to get tickets can be found at  www.OracleSchoolsFoundation.com.
