Sun Sounds of Arizona

Kathy Desmarais

Are you, or someone you know, print-disabled?

Most of us think of the blind when we think of the “print disabled.” But it also applies to those who have difficulty seeing the printed word due to cataracts, glaucoma, age-related macular degeneration, low visual acuity, retinitis pigmentosa, complications from diabetes, multiple sclerosis, brain and spinal injuries, stroke or dyslexia. It applies to someone who is physically unable to hold a book or turn the pages.

Did you know that if you are print disabled you have access to 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year news print read aloud? Would you like to hear the reading of the Arizona Daily Star, Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, Vanity Fair, The New Yorker, Time, Smithsonian, Rolling Stone; to men’s and women’s magazines, westerns, book reviews, humor, grocery ads, job opportunities, personal finance, health news, short stories, romance, sports and poetry? In all, there are over 200 different publications.

If this sounds like something that could be of benefit to you or someone you know, think Sun Sounds of Arizona. Sun Sounds of Arizona is a non-profit organization, and all of the readings are done by volunteers. We can provide you with a Sun Sounds radio at no charge to you, or if you have a computer you can stream Sun Sounds online via the Internet (sunsounds.org). There are also other ways to access Sun Sounds. If you’d like more information, please contact Mitzi Tharin or Murry Everson at 520-296-2400.
