Technology Club hosts general meeting on “cutting the cord”

Linda Shannon-Hills

The May general meeting of the SBR Technology Club hosted an open discussion to 165 residents of SaddleBrooke Ranch on streaming television services and “cutting the cord” with your current cable or satellite services. A panel of four people from the community, Richard Brosnahan, Jim Bishop, Diane Schramm and Don Mamula, facilitated by Larry Schweitzer, discussed how they cut the cord, moving to streaming services like YouTubeTV, Hulu, Netflix, Amazon Prime TV, Roku and many other different services. They also talked about the equipment they use and what they had saved by moving to the various services.

Attendees asked many questions, so ready to “cut the cord” themselves, while others were not sure there was a benefit in making this move at this time.

For members of the Technology Club, they can find documents and websites listed on https://www.sbrtechnology.club to help them read further on options for them to make.

The Technology Club started “Demonstration on Streaming TV” sessions in the Technology Room in June for members of the club to show how the menu system works, answer questions on how to get started with hardware and appliances, as well as walk members through the process. More sessions will be held for members in the coming months. Check the email newsletters sent out by the club to the members for future dates and times.
