Tickets on sale now for the House of Tomorrow

Dick Fleming

As the director of The PrimeTime Players in SaddleBrooke, Susan Shear reads a lot of scripts in order to find one that fits our SaddleBrooke actors and audience. More often than not, scripts feature young characters with small casts and themes that have nothing to do with us…at this age. Finding a script for and about seniors is challenging, which is why she wrote The House of Tomorrow for the upcoming spring production. Twenty-eight individual scenes, some that feature songs written by a London director, are woven together with a common thread about our lives as we age.

At the heart of these stories, humorous, poignant and relevant, is how we face constant change and unexpected challenges as we still look forward to our tomorrows. There are scenes about marriage, relationships, technology, grown children, elderly parents, online dating, memory, money, moving on, loss and love. A few lines from the song, Changes from the show says it all: Growing older is a hard change to me, It all goes so fast, The fun doesn’t last, You can’t hold the past, I see. The things I used to wait for all rush by now. My life seems in a state for me to try now. Fly now. Love will come to me as all changes do. I hope that I’ll be, Open and Free, Ready to see change through.

As in The Dining Room and The 39 Steps, an ensemble cast will portray multiple characters of varying ages. The cast includes Connie Ward, Sam Page, Sandi Mahanna, Ron Andrea, Shawne Cryderman, Joan Cohen, Dianne Ashby, Sam Horowitz, Tim Morsani, Casey Domalewski, Susan Sterling and Karen Moore. The audience will be seated at tables of 10 in cabaret style setting. The best tables, closest to the stage, sell out early so we encourage you to get your tickets now!
