Veterans, do you know your death and survivor benefits?

The American Legion Oro Valley Post 132 is sponsoring a veterans death and survivor benefits seminar November 9, 2016. It will be held at the SaddleBrooke MountainView Clubhouse (Ballroom West) at 1:00 p.m. The seminar, presented by members of Oro Valley Post 132, will provide a comprehensive review of ceremonial and burial benefits available to all honorably discharged veterans of the U.S. military and their surviving family members. Membership in the American Legion is not required to attend. Spouses are encouraged to attend with the veterans.

Topics to be discussed are burial, ceremonial and death benefits including government furnished services and grave site and columbarium headstones and markers, the process of planning ahead while the veteran can take part and a review of government cemeteries in Arizona including the newly opened State Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Marana.

Members of Post 132 assembled the information for the seminar after receiving numerous inquiries from widows of deceased veterans. They did not know the burial benefits to which the deceased veterans were entitled nor did they know where to begin to learn. Members of the Oro Valley Post 132 have proudly been presenting the benefits seminar to groups of veterans and their loved ones throughout the community for the past four years.

Seating is limited; RSVP is required. Call or email Jim Martens at 503-939-1570, [email protected]. We welcome a $3 donation to cover the cost of the “take home” reference material. The SaddleBrooke MountainView Club House is located at 38759 S. Mountain View Blvd. Tucson, AZ 85739.
