People of all ages develop problems with their shoulders, but these problems become even more common with time. By retirement age more than half of the people have partial tearing of their rotator cuff or worse. And the number of shoulder replacements performed in the United States is expected to triple in the next 10-15 years.

Dr. Michael Amini, Orthopaedic Surgeon, specializing in shoulder, elbow and Sports Medicine made his first appearance on July 19 for the SaddleBrooke Ranch Wellness Roundup. Dr. Amini’s presentation covered many of the latest advances in the treatment for shoulder arthritis and rotator cuff problems. He discussed 3D pre-planning for shoulder replacements and clarified common myths about shoulder problems and treatments. Dr. Amini believes in exhausting other treatments before offering surgery. He answered many questions Ranchers face regarding their should ailments.

Dr. Amini works at Southwest Orthopaedic Surgery Specialist, 7520 N Oracle Road in Tucson. During his training at the Cleveland Clinic he developed a special interest in shoulder and elbow replacements. He continues to conduct research to improve the methods and technology of these procedures. He practices minimally invasive arthroscopic surgery to improve recovery and minimize risk to patients as well as offering Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) and Stem Cell treatments when appropriate.
