Greetings from SASO

Punch Howarth

Looking back to the season’s first two concerts by SASO, both programs were musically superb. With two Russian concertos, a Beethoven symphony and exciting shorter works by Enescu, Dvorak and Rossini, the orchestra performed with great precision and expression. Adding to the enthusiasm was guest conductor Diego Sanchez Haase demonstrating his many skills at the concerts in November. As a historical footnote, did you know that SASO performed the very first program in the new DesertView Performing Arts Auditorium?

In January SASO’s third program is unusual as it will be devoted to a Chinese New Year observance. The concert will be devoted to an all Chinese program featuring The Tucson Sino Choir, soloists Jing Xia and Xiaoyin Zheng. In addition to the regular programs at SaddleBrooke and Oro Valley, several other sites will be announced.

The SASO family would like to wish one and all a happy holiday season, which includes a Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, Boxing Day, Kwanza and Happy-Healthy-Prosperous New Year. For concert and orchestra details go to www.sasomusic.org.
