Pool Players of the Brooke want to thank our generous sponsor Olive Garden Italian Kitchen.

On November 19, 2016 the Pool Players of the Brooke hosted an 8-Ball Singles Tournament at the SaddleBrooke Billiard Center. Thankfully we had beautiful weather, and the players were comfortable sitting outside on the patio waiting for their turn to compete. Tournament directors were Dominic Borland and Joe Giammarino. The following field of 13 players gathered to play competitive 8-Ball: Dan Stebbins, Tom “Half Jacket” Barrett, Joe “Fast Eddie” Giammarino, Dominic “The Doctor” Borland, Paul “Bankster” Callas, Ron “Dblo7” Ridge, Gary “Bushwhacker” Powers, Jim “Shooter” Fabio, John “Hole in One” McKinney, Rich “Loose Rack” Galant (Ranch), Jay “The Shamrock Shooter” Clary, Jim Donat and Randy “Thin Man” Smith.

Results:

1st Place – Joe “Fast Eddie” Giammarino returned to the winner’s circle with 7 wins, 1 loss, and 1 bye.

2nd Place – Jim Donat had an impressive finish; nice shooting, Jim, with 3 wins, 2 losses, and 1 bye.

Recap:

Joe “Fast Eddie” Giammarino’s path to victory started by getting beaten badly by Jim Fabio in the first round, sending Joe to the loser’s bracket. In the loser’s bracket Joe outlasted Ron Ridge in a tough fought match. Next up was Dominic Borland, despite losing the lag Joe defeated Dominic sending him home. Rich Galant (Ranch) was next, this was also a hard fought match but Joe barely prevailed over Rich. Jay Clary gave Joe all he wanted but again it was not enough and Joe won again. John McKinney was patiently waiting for an opponent, and Joe provided one and in the end defeated John. John took third place with some fine shooting. This set up a match between Jim Donat who was on the hill waiting for the winner of the loser’s bracket to appear. Joe came through the loser’s bracket and would have to beat Jim twice to take the championship. The first game went back and forth until Joe finally made the 8-Ball for the win. This set up the final game between Joe and Jim. Again Joe endured a tough competitor in Jim to take the big prize. Congratulations to all who competed.

Thanks to our hosts the Pool Players of the Brooke Billiards Club, the SaddleBrooke Billiards Center, to all the participants and sponsors.

A fun day was over after three hours and 25 games of 8-ball. The 13 participants competed and met some new friends that shared their passion. That is a good day! RACK’EM UP!
