Some people say it’s shocking how good looking the guys in the electrical department are at the Golden Goose. Maybe that’s why they are all smiling? Nevertheless, these six guys are the conduit for testing all the TVs, stereos, hair dryers, fans, lamps and myriad other electrical appliances that are donated to the Golden Goose.

Now, some people mistakenly believe that these handsome gentlemen repair electrical items that are broken or don’t work properly. On the contrary, their job is to insure that items are working properly before they’re placed on the sales floor. That way Goose shoppers can be assured that the electrical product they are buying has been tested. Products that are not working properly are discarded, so please don’t donate electrical items that are not fully functional.

In addition to being good looking, the electrical team is an experienced lot. Led by Department Chairman Gerry Streller, these six guys have a total of 44 years of volunteer experience at the Goose so you know they’re having a good time. Now you might be thinking, “Wow, this is a cohesive, elite, crack unit of highly trained experts!” Well, sort of, but they do need help! Many hands make light work and these six guys can use more hands.

You don’t have to be an electrical engineer or a licensed electrician to work in this department and you don’t even have to be good looking! After all, these guys work in the back room behind the sales floor. If you can plug in a radio or replace a battery in an alarm clock, they can use your help. The guys even asked me to emphasize that you don’t have to be male!

So—if you have electrical products in good working condition that you no longer need, donate them to the Goose. If you have a few half days a month to spare, consider joining our merry team in the electrical department. You might be shocked at what a good time you’ll have!

New volunteer orientations are held the third Monday of each month at 3:00 p.m. For more information call 825-9101 and check out our website at goldengooseaz.com.
