WOOO keeps its members busy

WOOO, a club for single women living in SaddleBrooke and the Ranch, continues to keep its members busy with activities.

Dine Arounds: February’s dine around was held at BJ’s, hosted by Lucie Gerritzen. It was a great change from our local restaurants. We travel even farther, for our March 15 dine around, to The Wild Garlic. We are looking forward to this chef owned establishment. These dinners always take place on the third Wednesday of each month.

Book Club: Breakfast and Books meets every fourth Friday of the month at the MountainView clubhouse dining room at 9:00 a.m. Each month they read a different title from a pre-chosen list and a moderator leads a discussion of the title. Join us to expand your horizons and meet new friends.

Potlucks: On the evenings of the fourth Saturday of the month, we gather at a member’s home for our potluck. The hostess chooses the theme (appetizers, desserts, Mexican, salads etc.) and the guests bring an appropriate dish. This is a great opportunity to meet new members and reconnect with old.

Meet Ups: Every month there is a variety of spontaneous activities that pop up that are organized by our members. These could include dinners, movies, concerts, happy hours and whatever someone else wants to do but does not want to go alone. It’s easy to respond “yes” and attend an event with a small group.

Day Trips: A couple of times a year we plan day trips that take us to events and interesting places in the area. We have visited Winter Haven, Sabino Canyon and Canyon Lake to name a few. We hope to have one this spring.

Travel: This group is for those who want to experience a longer trip. Last year they went to Antelope Canyon and Lake Powel for a few days. This year they are traveling farther and are taking a cruise from Amsterdam, up Norway’s western coast. There is a choice of 14 or 21 days. There are about 12 members going, with need for a roommate for an interested member. Anyone wishing to join us can call Ruthe Bergener at 825-2533.

Games: The games groups meet monthly at members’ homes on preset days and times. These include: bridge, five deck canasta, Mexican Train, progressive hand and foot, Scrabble, Mahjongg and game night.

Meet and Greet: For our new members, we host a welcome wine and cheese party where new members can meet and learn more about our activities and groups.

For more information on joining, please contact Lynn Crookes at [email protected] or call 433-9759. Dues are a one-time fee of $12.
