SaddleBrooke Seniors and SaddleBrooke Health and Wellness will again sponsor a seminar series in early 2015. All three will be held at 2:00 p.m. in the MountainView Ballroom West. Here’s a brief preview.
(1) Thursday, January 22 – Wandering and Safety Issues for Alzheimer’s. The Alzheimer’s disease epidemic continues to grow. It’s critical to be prepared to face it in your community. People with Alzheimer’s or another dementia can unknowingly put themselves and others in dangerous situations. Understanding the disease and key responses are a critical piece of the solution. This wandering and safety presentation will cover basic disease information, wandering, home safety and what the community can do to support neighbors living with Alzheimer’s. Kelly Raach, Regional Director of the Alzheimer’s Association, will offer this seminar.
(2) Wednesday, February 25 – Caregiving and Stress Issues for Alzheimer’s. Alzheimer’s disease is a progressive disease of the brain with no effective treatment or cure available. This disease does not just affect the person diagnosed, but also can significantly impact those that care for them. This presentation will help these families learn ways to better care for themselves while they are caring for the person with dementia including skills and techniques to manage stress. Morgen Hartford, Program Director of the Alzheimer’s Association, will make this presentation.
(3) Tuesday, March 31 – Elder Law Overview. Sally Simpson, an Elder Law specialist at Simpson Law Office PLLC, will provide an overview of Elder Law issues in Arizona. There are key documents we all must have and more that we should have. We need to be aware of the dangers of fraud and abuse and know what we can do to help protect ourselves and our loved ones. This will be an informal presentation, and your questions are welcome.
As we get closer to the seminar dates, additional information will be posted on the SB Seniors website at http://www.sbseniors.org/coming_events.html. Meanwhile, please save the dates. See you there!
