On Feb. 19, purple, green, and gold decorations were scattered on the SBR putting green. Mardi Gras was the theme, as the Ranchette Putters welcomed the Verde Sputters from SaddleBrooke One. Blended teams were challenged to putt around masks, puffy hats, billowing flags, and canisters filled with beads. Feather adorned masks marked the starting point for each hole, while strings of beads and long bumpers created additional colorful obstacles.
The Mardi Gras theme was also evident at the luncheon in the Sol Ballroom. Tables were decorated with masks, feathers and beads. Every putter received a free raffle ticket, a goody bag with chocolate coins, and a wine stopper. The meal included a salad, chicken/mushroom crepes, and brownies; and hurricanes were the featured drink at the bar.
Prizes were awarded to the teams with the lowest averages. First place went to Lori Eby, Caroline Morrison, Nancy Olsen, and Terry Stewart, with an average of 40.25. Two teams tied for second place with an average of 40.75: Sandee Bicklehaupt, Linda Nicholson, Sue Ryan, and Sheelagh Simpson; and Irene Keil, Sue Marx, Donna McPherson, and Diana Miller. Third place went to Jane Gann, Corky Mansmith, Betty Ryan, and Linda Shamburg.
Colorful balloons decorated the table holding a sea of 28 purple bags – the raffle prizes. Lucky ladies won sun hats, visors, golf balls, golf socks, putter golf ball pick-ups, woven golf totes, and insulated water carriers. Kudos to Denise Sandoval and her committee for planning and executing this wonderful event!
Thanks to Connie Garrison and Nancy Olsen for taking the photos!
