With the number of Western dancers at the Ranch growing, the board of the SaddleBrooke Ranch Social Dance Club (SBRSDC) decided to dip a boot into separate, monthly dances devoted to Western music and dancing. Country-western lessons were expanded with a new instructor, dance teacher Richard Russell, and Ranch resident Bob Authur was drafted as dance D.J.
The club sponsored two No-Frills Boom Box western dances on Sept. 3 and Oct. 1 in the Sol Ballroom. With both a big hit, the club is now stepping it up with dances featuring live country-western bands.
Wild Ride, a Tucson-based country-western band, will play on Wednesday, Nov. 3, in the Sol Ballroom, with Patrick Rayl and the .357 Band scheduled for Friday, Dec. 3.
All levels of dancers are welcome. Both dances will feature a wide variety of country songs including the two-step, swing, cha cha, waltz, western partner pattern, and a few of the popular line dances such as the Electric Slide, Boot Scootin’ Boogie, and Copperhead Road. And, if you like dancing to ballroom or rock ‘n’ roll music, then you can apply your skills to much of the country music!
Doors for the Sol Ballroom open at 5:30 p.m. with dancing from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Dancers are seated at small, socially distanced tables. Admission for each dance is $15 for SBRSDC members and $20 for non-members.
Not yet ready to give it a try, but want to take a few lessons first? Intermediate country 2-step lessons will start Nov. 2. The club will also be repeating a four-week series of country line dancing, both beginning and intermediate, beginning Wednesday, Nov. 3. All lessons are in the Fitness Center at the La Hacienda Club.
For further details and to register for the dances and lessons, go to the club’s website at sbrsbdc.club. Information on the dances and lessons is emailed directly to club members and those on the club’s mailing list approximately four weeks before the dance and/or lessons start date. Details are also included in the weekly Ranch Reminder. Registration opens four weeks before the event.
We hope you will don your jeans, boots, and cowboy hats (if you have them!) and join us for a boot scootin’ good time!
