Social dances are dances that have a social function and context. Social dances are intended for participation rather than performance. They are often danced merely to socialize and for entertainment. Social dances sponsored by the SaddleBrooke Ranch Social Dance Club include many of the standard ballroom dances, line dances, and even an occasional disco tune.
In other words, social dances are the opportunity for a group of people to get together to socialize and dance with the emphasis on fun! The music is varied and performed by live musicians or disc jockeys, spinning popular and recognizable tunes.
The club also employs special dance instructors to help beginners and seasoned dancers to learn or improve the numerous social dances. Christine Hoskins is the professional dance instructor for the club. She teaches group lessons on Thursday evenings and is available for private lessons on Sundays. Visit the club website at www.sbrsbdc.club for more information.
The next social dance at SaddleBrook Ranch will be on Saturday, Feb. 25, featuring Gus D & Ms. Gina, DJ extraordinaires. The doors will open at 5:30 p.m. and the music starts at 6 p.m. in the Sol Ballroom. The cost is $15 for members and $20 for nonmembers.
