The SBR Democratic Club recently hosted a visit by Save Our Schools Arizona (SoS). SoS is a nonpartisan, community-based organization fighting for strong public schools for a strong Arizona.
Abbie Hlavacek, our area liaison, gave a great presentation on spend per student and how the expanded voucher program, along with Arizona’s reduced flat tax rate, will negatively impact state (deficit) spending in the next year. Reports show that higher-income people who were already sending kids to private schools are using these vouchers. SoS informed us so those passionate about public education could volunteer to help.
