Recently the SBR Painters Club hosted a two-day Watercolor Pet Portrait Workshop conducted by professional artist Rachel Linnemeier.

All skill levels were welcome, and for those for whom painting a pet portrait in watercolor seemed daunting, Rachel invited students to submit their reference images in advance so that a sketch could be prepared for them. She then taught the students how to transfer that image onto watercolor paper so that they could capture the pet’s image perfectly.

Students learned how to paint their animals’ texture and fur, while concentrating on value (lights and darks). It was a great workshop with fun and learning, and students went home with a beautiful painted portrait of beloved pets!

Look for more upcoming classes through the Painters Club, including an encore of Pet Portraits in Watercolor in September.
