The Updegraff Cup was the last tournament of 2024 for the SaddleBrooke Ranch Women’s Golf Association (SBR WGA): The weather was beautiful for the two-day event, held on Dec. 2-3, with 64 players teeing off. Jennifer Valverde and Mary Drake took the reins of the Pink Team; Kim Rice and Arlene Fleming led the Blue Team. Day One was a match play event, with the Blue Team scoring 9 points and the Pink Team 7 points. Day Two was a Chapman scramble that saw the Blue Team score 10.5 points; the Pink Team 5.5 points. Overall the Blue Team won the cup with 19.5 points! Our captains did a great job of setting up the pairings and making the tournament very competitive. Day One chip-ins were Kathi Dyer and Arlene Fleming, both on hole number 8. Day Two chip-ins were Mary Hoover, hole number 3; Diane Taylor, hole number 5; and Mary Drake, hole number 8 and hole number 14.

Hole-in-One Club Gets a New Member
Evie Thompson, who was participating in the Thirsty Thursday ladies group on Nov. 14, 2024, made a hole-in-one on hole number 5, a par 3. Just less than 98 yards she used her Cobra 6 hybrid and teed off with a Callaway ERC Soft white golf ball. Witnessing the event were Fran Harrington, Ingrid McManus, and Julie Ross. Evie did not see the ball go in and thought the ball rolled past the hole and disappeared. However Julie and Fran did see the ball go in the hole. Congratulations!
