The Horseback Riding Group headed to Marana on Jan. 11 for a nice ride on a sunny, but cool, day. The ride with Tucson Mountain Stables was on the property of the White Stallion Ranch. It started in a flat area of scrub brush, but quickly rose up into the foothills of the Twin Peaks area, passing huge volcanic boulders and a site of the Native American petroglyphs.

Bob, the owner of the stable, mentioned he also does horse drawn hay wagon rides with a warm fire and hot chocolate at the end of the ride. He also has done rides to a local pub, or he also can do a chuck wagon dinner. It was nice to know about the additional options the stable has to offer.

If you are interested in the Horseback Riding Group’s activities, go to the Saddlebrooke HOA website, “Things to do,” then “Clubs.” There in the middle column is a link to the “Horseback Riding Group.” Click on that and then the link under the information for the secretary, Rebecca Williams. There you will see a web page about the group’s activities and the upcoming ride under Ride #3. The group will have additional rides in March and April and then will be on hiatus until September.

If you would like to participate in a particular ride, send an email to [email protected]. Give the secretary, Rebecca Williams, your name, the ride you want to join, and the time if there is a choice. She will get back to you with a confirmation and can help with any questions you may have. You can participate as often as you choose. All rides are usually one hour at a walk, just to enjoy the scenery. Upcoming rides are posted on the website. Happy Trails!
