Pastor Mary Dotson, Vista United Methodist Church
I’m writing this just three days after Ash Wednesday and already I am experiencing a refreshing sense of peace as we begin the Lenten season. This year I decided not to give up anything for lent. In many ways these days I am clinging on to hope, so I purchased a new daily Lenten Devotional that focuses on God’s unconditional love. Along with my reading I am committed to look for and note God’s grace in my day to day. I’m not just acknowledging the big ways God shows up but the little ways too. Like the Cactus Wren singing on the tree by my back fence, the moody clouds over the Catalina mountains, the good news from my dental hygienist, and snuggles from my 2-year-old doodle. I’m trying to embrace the truth that God created us to have abundant life. As you are reading this, there are a couple more weeks until Easter. So, there’s still time to prepare your heart for Resurrection Sunday. We invite you to our campus to walk our Labyrinth and The Way of the Cross. Join us on Palm Sunday at 10 a.m. to celebrate Jesus. Then on Thursday, April 17 at 5 p.m. you are invited to join us for a Maundy Thursday Soup meal in our Fellowship Hall. As we enjoy this light meal, we will remember the last meal Jesus had with his disciples before he was crucified. If you are interested in attending the Maundy Thursday Supper, please call our church office (520-825-1985) so that we can have a place for you. Then on April 20 join us for our Easter Morning Worship service at 10 a.m. May these holy days bring you closer to God and allow you to experience God’s grace in a fresh abundant way.
