Team SBR Fights Cancer at Light the Night!

2024 Team SBR at Rillito Park

Sandy Jessop

Where do our dollars go? For the last 10 years, residents of Saddlebrooke Ranch (SBR) have joined together to raise funds for the Leukemia/Lymphoma Society’s “Light the Night” 1 K walk and fundraiser. And we never disappoint. Team SBR: Strong—Brave—Resilient has always been one of the top three fundraising teams here in Tucson!

Each year several people ask a very important question, “Just how are our fundraising dollars spent?”

We asked Emily Tisdale, Campaign Development Manager here in Tucson. “Each year our donation dollars support the greatest need in patient support (financial assistance, support groups, etc.), advocacy efforts, and research,” states Emily. The most recent Impact Report of Tucson’s donation dollars for last year are as follows:

* Co-Pay Assistance—101 Awards Provided, $568,500 awarded

* Patient Financial Assistance (Patient Aid, Urgent Need, Travel Assistance)—273 Awards Provided, $103,700

* Education Services—450 Patients and Caregivers Served

* Decade Total Research—University of Arizona, $624,942

This report makes me want to go donate some dollars right now. If you agree with me, please go to pages.lls.org/ltn/az/TucsonL25/sbr and donate to one of our many team members listed at the bottom right corner of the team page.

Or you can join our team for one or both events on Oct. 17 and 18 as we light the night with some great activities!

Oct. 17: SBR Cancer Support Group’s 6th Annual Community Golf Cart Ride (6 to 6:30 p.m.) followed by the first Light the Night Auction/Kick-Off event (6:30 to 8:30 p.m.). Note: Registration is not required to attend the Auction/Kick-Off party at 6:30 p.m.

Oct. 18: Team SBR: Supportive—Brave—Resilient meets at Rillito Park for a 1K walk to honor and remember all our cancer heroes and their loved ones.

Free registration for the Golf Cart Ride or 1K walk is required at pages.lls.org/ltn/az/TucsonL25/sbr to join either or both cancer events. (Registration is not required to attend the Auction/Kick-Off party.) You can also make an online donation of any amount using the same link.
