The courts were buzzing with energy on May 23 as 24 players gathered at the Ranch for the POP Tennis Summer Kickoff Smash. Held from 8 to 11 a.m., the event marked a festive start to the season with fast-paced play, great company, and prizes for all—thanks to generous support from local sponsors.
The round-robin format kept the action moving, with doubles matches lasting 15 minutes on three courts. Players switched partners and opponents each round, competing in no-ad scoring and racing to be the first to four games. The 5-minute breaks between matches gave players time to hydrate, chat, and enjoy the upbeat atmosphere.
Participants weren’t just there for the matches. The simultaneous Drop Shot Demo Day gave players a chance to test out a variety of paddles and gear, with a special prize awarded to the player who tried the most equipment.
In true POP spirit, the event also celebrated individual flair. Prizes were awarded for the first participant to register, the most spirited player, and the player who tested the most paddles. And thanks to amazing sponsors, every participant walked away with a prize, adding to the celebratory vibe.
The event welcomed SaddleBrooke Ranch Tennis Association (SBRTA) members and their guests, showing how POP tennis continues to grow as a fun, social sport. With a mix of new faces and seasoned players, the Summer Kickoff Smash was a hit—setting the tone for a season full of rallies, laughter, and community connection.
