Okay, softball junkies, here’s the past and future in the action-packed world of SaddleBrooke softball.

Summer League Action

Well, folks, at the time of this article we’re just two weeks into the summer season, and already things are heatin’ up! And I mean the softball, too! The girls and boys of summer are back at it keepin’ themselves cool and their bats hot.

On Mondays in Recreational, Absolutely Art is off to a 2-0 start, with their partners in softball mayhem Ambient Air Heating and Cooling stumbling outta the gate to a 0-2 start. Over to Community, ditto for X-Pert Automotive, which is off on a 2-0 roll and Your CBD Store maybe needing a little infusion of their sponsor’s wares, as they are 0-2.

Tuesdays is Competitive only this summer, as “the birds” are all up North. Ann Fraley-Long Realty burst out of the gate with a nice first victory. But Andy’s Irrigation caught ‘em in the first turn, taking game two, and both teams are now 1-1.

On Wednesdays in Sidewinder, Ridgeview Physical Therapy is 1-0, and Splendido is 0-1, as one game was canceled due to rain and a wet field. What?! When did that happen?

Thursday is Coyote day (65-plusers only), and while Anne Glenn-Long Realty started strong with a first game victory, Barron Electric came back strong (today) with a victory, and the teams are now tied at 1-1.

On Fridays in Competitive, only one game has been played so far, as “week 2” is tomorrow, the 25th. Beyond Clean has jumped out to a 1-0 start, with Big Bear Garage Door at 0-1. No problemo! Lotsa games left! In Community, Bubb’s Grub is off to a 1-0 start, with Brittni Guttman–All State Insurance taking the first game beating at 0-1.

Doings In the Bleachers!

The “Sidewalk Gang,” normally ensconced in the “cheap” seats on the sidewalk (in the shade under the mesquites) down the third base side, is going to be down one for at least the next three months. “Mayor Paul” (and spouse), a Sidewalk Gang fixture, is off on an 84-day cruise (holy moly). Yours truly was informed today by fellow sidewalk regular Rick Ervin (who came in to sit in the stands—well, he was all alone out there, as another regular, Gus Marano, had not yet arrived) that Paul was currently soaking up the rays in Greenland! Talk about beating the heat!

Annnnd cut! That’s a wrap, folks! Summer League games are daily, Monday through Friday, starting at 8 a.m. (8:30 a.m. on Tuesday only), two games a day on Monday and Friday—just one on Wednesdays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays. So, beat the heat and come on down early! Practices are on Saturday when you can tune the bat and glove. If you want more info, come on down to the field. Someone will yap with you. Or you can surf the Association (the SSSA) at saddlebrookesoftball.com.
