Introduction to Zentangle

Many residents of SaddleBrooke Ranch are now fans of Zentangle art. Are you “Zentangle curious” but are afraid to take the plunge? This class is for you! Have you been practicing Zentangle but would like to take a step back and just enjoy the practice and perhaps learn a few new tangles? This class is for you as well.
Zentangle is a mindfulness technique that many people find relaxing and has been found to have benefits in reducing anxiety, relieving stress, and increasing focus. The Zentangle method of drawing is easy-to-learn and a fun way to create beautiful images with structured patterns called tangles. These patterns are drawn on small pieces of paper called “tiles,” which you can assemble into mosaics.
Val Barsevich is a Certified Zentangle Teacher and she will lead participants through the basics of the Zentangle method, which promotes mindfulness and creativity through an easy–to–learn and fun way to create designs. The class is for all levels of ability as no experience is required to be successful.

Watercolor—Create Beautiful Holiday Greeting Cards

The SaddleBrooke Ranch (SBR) Art Club is bringing more watercolor instruction to our list of classes offered with Liz Iverson. Using watercolor paints and other water media, students will create four beautiful Christmas and Holiday Cards with envelopes. Liz will guide you through the steps to trace Christmas motif templates, and she’ll have pre-drawn card designs for you to use as well. This class is suitable for beginners and intermediate painters. Students will be practicing the techniques before creating the cards.

Paper Quilling a 3D Snowman!

Bring winter to life with paper quilling! Master the art of dimensional paper quilling in this hands-on class. All skill levels welcome—beginners will learn foundational techniques while experienced quillers explore advanced 3D methods. Whether you’re new to quilling or have experience, this class will teach you exciting 3D techniques while you craft delightful seasonal decorations.
In class you will learn how to make a 3D snowman. All materials will be provided. Depending on the time, each participant will make two or three snowpeople! Come join the fun!

Fun, Colorful Ceramic Christmas Tree!

Laura Stiltner, an Oracle resident, has been doing ceramics for 25 years, and creates “one-of-a-kind” pieces. She includes pieces of Arizona in her art using dead cactus or branches from Arizona trees—always colorful! Laura has been teaching workshops for about a year, and enjoys sharing her art with others. In this class, students will glaze a Christmas tree with cactus cutouts. Your tree can be full of color or in more traditional colors. You will be provided a bisque piece of a Christmas tree, then choose from many colored glazes to put on your bisque piece. Then you’ll select beads, wire, and either Manzanita or cholla, which you’ll attach to the ceramic piece. Laura will take everything home for firing and pieces will be returned the next week, completed. Great for decorating your home or a very nice gift. All materials will be provided. Students may want to bring an apron to protect clothing. Be sure to visit “laurasceramics” on facebook for pictures for inspiration.
