Six riders from the Horseback Riding Group enjoyed a gloriously sunny ride on Nov. 8 at Rancho de los Cerros located in the Catalina State Park. The location is only about 20-30 minutes away in Oro Valley making it a convenient place to enjoy riding through the beautiful State Park and seeing the spectacular panoramic view of the Catalinas.
Riders enjoyed seeing a beautiful Harris hawk perched on the high limb of a barren tree and later saw a sleek coyote running through patches of sun and shadow to join his mate. He was really fun to see.
The group will be riding next at Donnelly’s D-Spur Ranch in Gold Canyon to enjoy the Superstition Mountains. That ride will take place on Saturday, Dec. 6. It will be the last ride of the fall season. The group will be together again on Saturday, Feb. 7, when the weather is once again usually seasonably warm.

If you would like to participate in a particular ride, you can reserve it on the club’s “Team Reach” site. Just send an email to the secretary, Rebecca Williams, and she will invite you to “Team Reach.” There you will see more information on a particular ride. Using “Team Reach” makes it very easy to make your reservation or cancel if you need to. On Wednesday ahead of the ride further instructions and directions will be sent via email to those participating in that weekend’s ride.
You can participate as often as you choose. All rides are usually one hour at a walk, just to enjoy the scenery. The price for each ride varies, but is typically $60 to $75 including tip. We all pay at the stable on the day of the ride. Carpools may also be arranged upon request. Happy Trails!
