Love Is All There Is

Suzanne Marlatt Stewart

There is a saying:There are many paths to the mountain top.” For me I believe that means honoring all spiritual practices and the diversity of all paths leads to enlightenment. Unity honors the universal truths in all religions and believes that different religions are like spokes on a wheel, with the hub being God. They may be set apart by variations in doctrines and worship styles, but their essence is the same and all are seeking to know the Divine. Unity’s teachings cover a broad spectrum of spiritual ideas, concepts, and laws all inspired in part by the teachings of Jesus of Nazareth. His teachings included all the spiritual traditions of his time, Mystical Judaism, Taoism, Buddhism, and the Vedic Teachings of Hinduism, also includes many way showers along the path.

Unity does not deny anyone the right to have his/her own beliefs. We invite the individual to explore Unity teachings and use what works best on their path. Unity is an educational movement that provides tools that will empower your spiritual journey and can help you to truly think for yourself and incorporate into your life daily practices living your truth.

Rev. Dr. Jonathan Zenz, minister of Unity of Tucson, always reminds us of who we are, a spark of the Divine, and each service includes these words: “Love Only, Forgive Everything, Remember Who You Are.”

Recently I watched an interview with Jeremy Renner, a well-known actor, and Oprah on her podcast. In 2023 Renner was crushed by a 6.5-ton snowplow, breaking 38 bones. As he lay waiting for emergency services, Renner reached a point where he lost consciousness and went to the very threshold of death, what is now well-known as a near-death experience, or NDE. In his recently published book My Next Breath, Jeremy states, “To me it’s a beautiful, beautiful, beautiful space. And really quite tragic that I had to come back into a busted body … it’s what I would define God to be, or the divinity of the collective of love. Love is the only thing you take with you when you die.”

The ministry of Unity of Tucson is free of discrimination regardless of race, gender, age, creed, religion, national origin, ethnicity, physical disability, sexual orientation, and gender identity. Our sincere desire is to create a spiritually aware organization that is non-discriminatory and supports diversity.
