Sue Fetters
At the Mudslingers studio, our members offer classes and demonstrations on various ceramic techniques. Terri Thomas and Lori Leonard offered an in-studio demonstration on Underglaze Transfers on pottery. Underglaze transfers are ceramic underglaze designs printed on a thin specialized paper which are transferred onto clay surfaces like temporary tattoos. Underglaze refers to the colored decoration applied to pottery before the clear glaze and final firing.
The transfers are very versatile. They can be used on a wide range of surfaces and on objects
including mugs, plates, bowls, and tiles. This technique gives a sophistication to our pottery creations and allows us to transfer detailed designs that otherwise would be difficult to draw. The result is very professional creations with fine detail and consistency.
We’re excited to have more classes and demonstrations scheduled for 2026. Our members have the chance to learn new methods and techniques of pottery creation.
The Mudslingers studio is located in the Arts and Technology Center. Hours are 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, and 5 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday and Thursday.
