Texas Independence Day: Still Independent. Still Talking About It.
Mary Kay Voss
In accordance with Texas law* (unwritten, long remembered, and loudly implied), the SBR Texas Club will be celebratin’ Texas Independence Day on March 6 at 4:30 p.m. in the Escondido Room, because if there’s one thing Texans enjoy it’s remindin’ everyone to Remember the Alamo.
This spirited get-together tips its hat to March 2, 1836, the day Texans stood tall, drew a line in the sand, and declared they were doin’ things their own way—settin’ the tone for a history best described as bold, colorful, and politely confident (which is to say, not polite at all).
Nearly 200 years later, the SBR Texas Club is still carryin’ on that fine tradition with a fun, friendly celebration packed with Texas flair, good company, and an independent streak you can spot from across the room. If it smells a little like history and sounds a whole lot like Texas pride, you’re sittin’ in the right place.
Looking forward to seeing SBR Texas Club members, includin’ the ever-faithful “wannabe Texans”—folks who may not have been born in Texas but married into it and now nod knowingly whenever the Alamo comes up … which is often.
Expect Texas décor from wall to wall, lots of Texas music, tall tales that improve with every tellin,’ plenty of laughter, and enough Lone Star spirit to make Sam Houston smile. It’s part history lesson, part social hour and dinner, and all Texas—a chance to swap stories, share a grin, and celebrate the independent streak Texans carry proudly. Drinks first, then ‘buy-your-own dinner.’
Y’all who might be curious about joinin’ the SBR Texas Club—and sign-in’ up for a lifetime supply of Texas facts, opinions, and friendly comparisons—can email SBRTexasClub@googlegroups.com for membership information.
So pull on your boots, straighten that belt buckle, and come celebrate Texas Independence Day the only way Texans know how—with pride, personality, and just enough exaggeration to keep things interestin.’
Club members, you’ll be getting your own special notice soon.
Circle March 6 on your calendar—it’s a must-attend. Let’s celebrate independence Texas style.
And always remember The Eyes of Texas are Upon You.

The party is earlier this year on Tuesday, Feb 17. The festivities will be held at 5 p.m. at the SaddleBrooke One Clubhouse, and tickets are $40 per person.
Just when you thought a party couldn’t get any better, this year’s party promises to be better than ever, with some new additions. New this year will be a Happy Hour before the buffet dinner. In addition to your favorite Wisconsin beverages, we’ll enjoy cheese curds and soft pretzels. Also new to the buffet dinner will be brats. Get your tastebuds ready!

The Wisconsin Friends Committee is working hard to make sure the Wisconsin Party will be even bigger and the best ever. The Wisconsin Friends always welcome new friends to our committee. If you love to help with parties, we have a place for you. Reach us at saddlebrookewisconsinparty@gmail.com.
One of the highlights of the Wisconsin Party is the Cash Raffle. Remember to bring cash to the party! Ticket sellers will only be selling tickets for the cash raffle in the early part of the evening. This gives the ticket sellers more time to prepare all those cash prizes! So snag your tickets as quickly as you can. When the time is up, it’s time to stop selling raffle tickets. There are lots of winners, and you want to be one of them!
Another highlight each year is the Wisconsin door prizes. There are always lots of Wisconsin memorabilia and surprises. I can’t wait to see the door prizes for this year!
Don’t miss the 2025 Wisconsin Party! It’s gonna be the best ever. You betcha!
