Hummingbird in Nest Watercolor Class

Dale Farland

The Art Club is delighted that Tucson watercolor artist, Tracy Holmes, is returning to teach another class of watercolor instruction to our club members on March 26. Follow along with her and learn to enjoy watercolors while creating a realistic hummingbird in her nest. Tracy always provides basic techniques that help the beginner as well as the experienced painter. So, everyone, regardless of skill level, is welcome!

Watercolor is the perfect medium to capture this delicate painting of a hummingbird sitting on her nest. Tracy will teach you her watercolor techniques of starting with a simple pencil sketch that will then be traced onto watercolor paper. She will also show you step by step how to create realistic artwork.

Tracy has her Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree and has 25 years of experience in teaching. She enjoys sharing her love of art and wants her students to come away with a creative spark to continue on with art. In her teaching, Tracy seeks to simplify each step of the project so everyone can be an artist.

Tracy will also be teaching students about quality supplies and basic techniques. All experience levels in painting and drawing are welcome. No prior experience is necessary. This is a class to enjoy and learn. You will go home with a finished 8” x 10” picture.

Ceramic Feather Class with Laura Stiltner on March 25

Dale Farland

Oracle ceramic artist Laura Stiltner is returning to teach another class. Her classes have been well received and we continue to have Laura teach for the SaddleBrooke Ranch (SBR) Art Club. This feather design is a perfect opportunity for students who are new to ceramic art as well as those who have enjoyed her classes previously. Laura will provide all the materials, including the ceramic feather, paints, and means by which to hang the feather. You will be able to hang your artwork either inside or outside.

Laura has been doing ceramics for more than 25 years and this is another of her “one-of-a-kind” pieces of art. She enjoys teaching students the process of glazing ceramics. There will be a variety of glaze colors so that each feather will be unique. Once the students have completed their artwork, Laura takes each piece home, fires them in her kiln, and returns them at a mutually agreed upon date for students to pick up their finished creation.
