Jeff McClure
M.C. Nelson
Jeff McClure, on his sixth year on the Pinal County Board of Supervisors and currently chairman of the Board, came to tell us about what’s happening in Pinal County. He discussed items such as how Pinal County is the sixth–largest growing community in the United States. Housing permits are up as well as capital projects, mostly government buildings needing expansion to house staff to service all the new incoming residents.
He discussed buydown for capital bonds to save the county money as well as selling taxable bonds to issue to fund the ASRS pension for public workers.
Highlight was the flagship, award-winning $32 million election facility that has a “fishbowl” 360–degree view of the whole election process open to the public.
The Pinal Air Park (off of I-10) will now accept cargo planes, lessening traffic to Phoenix and Tucson airports and bringing 300+ jobs to Pinal County.
We raised the fact that cell phone service at the Ranch, regardless of carrier, is bad. We asked what we can do to help them so they can contact the major carriers. SaddleBrooke received a new tower, which we hear greatly improved cell service.
The SaddleBrooke Ranch (SBR) Democratic Club meets the third Tuesday of each month at 4:15 p.m. For information, please send inquiries to sbrdems@gmail.com
