The SaddleBrooke Ranch (SBR) Art Club is excited to present a diverse selection of classes in April. With a range of offerings, there is something for everyone interested in exploring their artistic side. Please note that registration for classes is open exclusively to SBR Art Club members. Below is a summary of the upcoming classes you can look forward to this month.
Multi-Level Contemporary Painting
April 8, 1 to 4 p.m.
Join Tucson artist Theresa Poalucci in exploring the basics of contemporary painting while learning a myriad of techniques for both acrylic paint and alcohol inks. No drawing skills required so this class is perfect for beginners as well as those with intermediate experience.
Basic Drawing (3-class series!)
April 9, 16, and 23, 9 a.m. to noon
Tracy Ann Holmes is returning to the SBR Art Club to teach a 3-class series in basic drawing skills where you will learn about shading techniques and volume, drawing materials, creating a still life and a realistic portrait. This class is suited for beginner and intermediate levels.
Soft Pastels Fundamentals (2-class series!)
April 16 and 23, 1 to 4 p.m.
Join our instructor, plein air artist and SBR resident Patricia Duncan, for this two-part series and tap into your creative spirit to explore using soft pastels. Find the joy of painting a beautiful landscape. Soft Pastels Fundamentals is oriented towards beginner to intermediate level.
Zentangle—Southwest Inspired Pottery
Monday, April 20, 9 to 11:30 a.m.
This Zentangle class led by Val Barsevich, CZT, will explore patterns inspired by Southwest Native American cultures. Students will use deconstructed patterns to create an original piece of “paper and ink” pottery on large Opus tiles. This class is suited for experienced tanglers.
Fun, Colorful Ceramics—Hanging Totem
April 22, 1 to 4 p.m.
Oracle resident and artist Laura Stiltner is returning to share another fun project with SBR Art Club members. Join Laura as she demonstrates how to create your own one-of-a kind ceramic art piece, full of color and whimsy! All materials will be provided. No experience necessary!
Watercolor—Spring Mountain Landscape
April 30, 9 a.m. to noon
Join watercolor artist Liz Iverson and create a simple spring mountain landscape! Liz will take you through the process step-by-step, practicing techniques and learning about composition. The scene will be pre-outlined for you—no drawing required. All levels of experience are welcome.
