Wellness Roundup Talk: Bladder and Prostate Health 101

Wellness Roundup welcomes Dr. Karen Wheeler from the Center for Neuroscience, Urology Department, as our featured guest speaker on Friday, Sept. 25, at 1:30 p.m. in La Mesa/Montana rooms located in La Hacienda Club.

Dr. Wheeler will discuss overall bladder and prostate health, when to be concerned, understanding what “normal” and “abnormal” bladder and prostate physiology is, and what individuals can do to maintain a healthy genitourinary system.

The Center for Neuroscience has taken a bold step in patient care with the launch of their new Urology Department. Dr. Wheeler will be leading the new program. She is a Virginia native, now living in Tucson with her husband, their two children, and beloved family dogs. Dr. Wheeler is a distinguished graduate of Virginia Military Institute in Lexington, Va. She received a PhD in Experimental Pathology, a Master of Science in Clinical Research, and earned her medical degree all from the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, Va. She also completed her Residency at the University of Virginia in 2018 and recently completed her Fellowship in Urologic Oncology at the University of Texas Health Center, San Antonio. Dr. Wheeler is a member of the American Urologic Association and the Society of Women in Urology. She has received numerous honors and awards during her extensive education and has authored many publications in her fields of study.
