The SaddleBrooke Senior Softball Association (SSSA) concluded its winter season on April 22. This was a busy season filled with more than 150 players on 22 teams, in seven leagues, playing four days each week. Nearly 6,400 runs were scored by your friends and neighbors. Let’s recap:
Monday Recreation League: Jonathan Green led the Coyote Golf Cars players to the championship with a record of eight wins, five losses. In second place, Central Alarm coached by Dale Norgard, had five wins, eight losses. Only 10 total runs separated these teams.
Monday Community League: Crystal Tech Vivopools managed by Jim Takacs eeked out first place with nine wins, five losses. In close second was Discount Tire with skipper Jack Graef at eight wins, seven losses. Third place went to Dominick’s Real Italian. Rich Battagello managed his team to seven wins, eight losses. And in fourth place Mike Hamm led the way to Custom Screenrooms and Ramadas five wins, nine losses.
Tuesday Competitive League: DS Builders & Remodeling with manager Leonard Gann had the best record of all teams this season, 14 wins, six losses, to capture first place. Stu Kraft led Golf Cars of Arizona to second place with nine wins, 11 losses. Coming in third place was Firefly Fireplaces & Supplies managed by Bruce Fink with seven wins, 13 losses. These three teams scored over 1,100 runs total!
Tuesday Community League: Debbie Seguin led HomeTeam Pest Defense to nine wins, six losses to earn first place. Second place went to Hardin Brothers Automotive with Jerry Cowart at the helm. They finished with six wins, nine losses.
Thursday Coyote League: Merrill Lynch Jeff Johnson with Jim Smith as manager finished first with nine wins, six losses. Lexus of Tucson at the Automall led by Ed Cussick finished second with eight wins, seven losses. In third place Jim Click Automotive Team with Joe Passoni as skipper had seven wins, eight losses. Johnston’s Pest Solutions came in last place with six wins, nine losses. Jerry Cowart was their leader.
Friday Competitive League: Ray Szpakowski CPA players managed by Ron Quarantino had 11 wins, four losses to earn first place. Harold Weinenger led the Preserve Grill team to nine wins, six losses and second place. Third place went to Players Pub, Mike Hamm skipper, with eight wins, seven losses. In last place Patrick Shaffer, DDS guys, Doug Sweetland manager finished with two wins, 13 losses.
Friday Community League: We had a tie for first place! Ridgeback Ranch managed by Debbie Seguin and SaddleBrooke HOA One led by Ed Cussick both finished with 11 wins and nine losses. Only seven runs separated these two teams. Second place went to Robson Communities Inc. with Brian Komar as leader with eight wins, 12 losses.
