Carol Sorensen
The next Citizens Awareness Forum will be Thursday, August 4, at 4:00 p.m. in the LaMesa/LaMontana Rooms for all SaddleBrooke Ranch residents.
On Thursday, July 7, 2016, Citizens Awareness Forum presented “Civics 101 for New Arizona Residents.” The speakers were Thomas R. Shope, Jr. and Frank Pratt, our State Representatives relating to us the basics of Arizona government, how it is constructed, how bills are passed, or why they don’t get passed and how constituent concerns can be made into bills. We learned that a large number of bills are due to Regulatory changes that States must make to be consistent across the Nation. It was interesting to hear some bills take several sessions to finally be formulated and achieved. Representative Shope and Representative Pratt welcomed our questions, and we thank our Representatives for coming to us at SaddleBrooke Ranch.
Regarding current issues, Tom Sorensen presented items of local interest in the future of Pinal County regarding the community college, proposed new roads and sales taxes and proposed new businesses. We also learned that a large majority of Pinal County residents now vote using the mail-in Early Ballot, which will come to those who have requested it around August 3, 2016. The election day voting is on Tuesday, August 30, 2016, in the polling place located at the Oracle Justice Court, 1470 Justice Drive in Oracle for SaddleBrooke Ranch residents.
SaddleBrooke Ranch residents, come to the next Citizens Awareness Forum on Thursday, August 4, 2016, in the LaMesa/LaMontana Rooms at 4:00-6:00 p.m. for issues of current interest to residents. All are welcome to join in the conversation!
