The SaddleBrooke Ranch Pickleball Association held its first annual “pool party” on August 23, 2017. The “hot fun in the summertime” party took place at the Hacienda Pool. In place of the pickleball courts and nets the activities planned for our members were water volleyball, water aerobics, and water relay races.
Weather for the day started out clear, and then as it does in Arizona a thunderstorm was brewing in the distance and headed towards the ranch. This did not stop 22 of our members showing up at the pool for some fun in the sun and water.
Activities started with members practicing their water volleyball techniques before the big game. Simultaneously Lupe Cook and Bill Smith took on creating the first SaddleBrooke Ranch water pickleball volley sport and set the record with 16 consecutive volleys back and forth. No contenders came close; congratulations to Lupe and Bill for their “SBRPB” record.
As the storm continued to grow and get closer to the Ranch, Debbie McCauley turned up the music and enthusiastically led a group with some riveting water aerobics. The group looked great, and Debbie did a great job.
The storm was now over the Ranch and to ensure the safety for all our members everyone left the pool area and immediately moved the pool party to the Bistro. There was no way Mother Nature was going to get in the way or stop the fun for our members to enjoy each other’s company.
Tim and Priscilla carefully continued the pool spirit with some safe beach ball volleying at their table in the bistro.
Great conversations continued with our members, and we would like to thank our members that participated in this fun event: Ken and Lupe Cook, Gary and Sally Grasso, Mike Healy, Madoka Knight, Tim and Debbie McCauley, Susan Ness, Tom Ridolfo, Jeff and Evelyn Silver, Bill and Lorraine Smith, Larry Steinberg, Keith and Corine Sturdivant, Anna Ung, Norb Weisbeck and Ernie and Priscilla Wolf.
