Vista Fine Arts is thrilled to welcome Jovert, the Tucson High School Steel Drum Band. They will be performing an eclectic mix of songs from around the world and from time periods that span a couple hundred years. The talented youth are known for their unique interpretations of well-known songs as well as exciting and thought provoking original music. Audiences can expect to be tapping their toes and dancing in the aisles and are guaranteed to leave the concert with wide smiles on their faces.
Originally started in 1991, the program has grown under the dynamic leadership of director Khris Dodge who arrived on the scene in 1999. Today Jovert boasts four bands and over 110 students. Different ensembles of varying sizes perform in venues all over Tucson and the Southwest. The bands have recorded four critically acclaimed CDs over the past eight years and now have an international reputation.
Please join us on November 9 and experience this unique style of music. Vista Church is located at 3001 Miravista Lane in Catalina, on the west side of Oracle Road, 3.7 miles north of Tangerine. Admission to the performance is free; an offering will be taken. All are welcome, and this program will appeal to all ages so bring the family and invite your friends. When Jovert plays, listeners can expect to be surprised, enlightened and above all entertained. Look forward to seeing you on November 9.
